Lost to a charmer
LOST stars Dominic Monaghan and Evangeline Lilly were kept busy dodging questions of their rumoured relationship as they arrived in Australia yesterday.
On the last leg of a whirlwind promotional tour for the show, the pair were in Sydney yesterday and arrive in Melbourne today.
They make their only appearance in Melbourne tonight at a private Channel 7 gig.
Off camera, the pair are rumoured to be dating, but both yesterday refused to either confirm or deny the speculation.
"If you start confirming or denying anything the press writes, you're giving them leverage to talk about your personal life," Lilly said.
But Monaghan, also of Lord of the Rings fame, did admit that on first meeting Lilly he was "really charmed".
"Here I was chatting with someone who didn't have an awful amount of experience in the world but was really into it, as opposed to a jaded actor who was bored with it all," he said.
In Lost, Lilly plays Kate, a shady, possibly murderous bank robber.
But Lilly wants to amp up Kate's attitude. "I want to be more bitchy," she said.
Monaghan, who plays drug-addled rocker Charlie Rose, also said the connection between Australia and the character's fate was impossible to ignore.
"You're responsible -- it's your fault," the star jokingly told Sydney's press. "Is there something in Sydney that is the reason why this flight ended up on the island?
"Did a mastermind sit in a hotel in Sydney and plan it all?"
It is Sydney from which the show's characters hop aboard a plane bound for Los Angeles before crashing on a mystery island.
